Powdersville High School is a new school that opened in August of 2011 to alleviate over crowding in other District 1 high schools. The construction was made possible through a 2008 referendum that provided $85.7 million to the school district for the construction of a new high school and upgrades/expansion of other schools in the District 1 system.
Powdersville HS is located in Anderson County with a Greenville mailing address. The school was constructed on a portion of an 89 acre parcel which also houses the Powdersville Elementary and Powdersville Middle schools.
The addition of the high school to the Hood Rd. site will allow one convenient central campus that will meet the educational needs for area residents from PK through 12th grade.
Students and teachers will move to Powdersville HS from Powdersville MS and the Wren HS over a multi-year period with the first graduation class tentatively schedule for 2013-2014. The HS is sized as a 2A school capable of accommodating about 800 students. Initially there will be about 300 freshmen and sophomore students in 2011-12 school year.
Limited information on Powdersville HS is available at this time. As data becomes available, this webpage will be updated.
